Construction on a new retirement living complex in Rosslyn village could begin sometime in 2025 if planning-related details have been completed, the project’s developer says.
“That is our goal, if everything can come together over the next year,” James Collie said on Tuesday.
The plan for the Pennock Village project calls for a non-profit corporation to oversee accommodation for about 120 seniors in a series of duplexes or houses in the range of 1,000-1,200 square feet.
When Collie proposed to develop the 28-acre Highway 130 property in Oliver Paipoonge a short drive from Thunder Bay, it was already zoned residential. But the zoning needed to be enhanced to allow for greater density requirements.
On Tuesday, Collie said “zoning and subdivision items are in place.”
“The township placed some conditions as part of the process that need to be satisfied, but they are normal type of development requirements in a project like this, and will be satisfied in the near future,” Collie added.
The property has no municipal services so would require the installation of wells and septic systems.
The property may also include an assisted-living component, Collie said earlier.
Inquiries about the project can be directed to Collie by email at info@pennockvillage.ca.
